Crossfire or new video card?

I am trying to decide the best way to improve my rig's graphics capabilities, so I'm wondering if buying a second 7870 would be more beneficial than buying a new graphics card all together. If buying a new graphics card is a better option, what would you recommend? (Nvidia is probably what I would go for if I would switch over)

I currently have a GIGABYTE AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition with CrossFireX capability

I'm also using an ASRock 1155 Intel motherboard

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Since you already have a 7870, a second card is by far the best performance/dollar. The only caveat is that AMD's frame pacing drivers aren't fully matured. Only DX11 games are supported. In DX9 games you will have microstutter. Most DX9 games won't need the extra horsepower, fortunately.
