Can I connect to the internet using a usb cable from my laptop to broadband router as my wireless card does not exist accordin

Im in the uk and trying to connect to Internet using a hp mini connected to windows xp professional. Used it before wirelessly but not able to now.it says Railink Wireless Lan Card Not Exist? My ethernet cable is broken so wondered if can connect a cable via a usb port on my hp mini and to the usb port on broadband router? If not wat else can I try? If its some sort of cable i need then please let me know the name of the cable i need. many thanks in advance to all who help.

1. Did you try it?
2. No, that probably won't work
3. You're online with 'something', so use that
4. Depending on where you are (In the US?) there is probably a store open with a cable for sale. Today being thanksgiving evening/blackfriday foolishness, you may have to battle some crowds
