Ok so about 3 months ago I build a computer and the thing is beast mode and working awesome. My goal when I build this was to eventually get nvidia surround 6 months down the road. Here are my stats of my system.

i5 4670k Proc
EVGA superclocked gtx 780 (just bought a 2nd)
asus maximus her VI mb
evga 1000w platinum power supply
16gb Gskill ripjaw ram
2 ssd samsung pro drives
3tb hard drive

My 2nd video card is just waiting to be installed because i havent purchased my monitors yet.

This leads me to my questions.

What is the best set up of monitors for my system. ?
and what is the proper way to hook up these 3 with my gtrx 780s?

I have done research but I trust the people here greatly and everything I read seems to contradict each other. Thanks for all advice ahead of time.. I want to purchase something tomorrow during the black friday holiday. Thanks again!!

For Nvidia 3D surround look at monitors with at least 120Hz and up. Not all 3d monitors support Nvidia 3D Vision, make sure the monitor you like does.
Here's one that's worth considering

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Monitor: Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor ($266.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $266.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

What do you think of IPS monitors? Do you have a recommendation for one of those or do you not recommend them? I was initially leaning towards those because I play games more geared to myself rather than fast fps games. I like to play mmos and things like the witcher .. I keep the fps stuff to my xbox :)

Yea I dont think I would get into 3d on such small screens. Im not even a fan of watching 3d on 50 inch TVs cause they are just to small.. Cant touch the theatre experience..

Let me ask you this... Is surround really worth it or would it be better to just get a large monitor? Im so torn what to do..

Depends on what you think it's best for you and the games you're going to play.
Some games benefits with triple monitor setup because it gives more field of view, where you can see more of your surroundings, that wasn't possible with a single monitor setup, while other just enlarges the image through out the 3 monitors.
For some, that line when placing the monitors together might be a issue, even if some monitors manufactures try to make their bezel as thin as possible.
Here is a list of games that supports AMD Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround triple monitor setup. It also tells whether if the game benefits with triple monitor setup (more field of view) or just enlarges the image which doesn't benefit with triple monitor setup.

If you're going with Nvidia surround then look at monitors that can do landscape and portrait mode, this gives you more options for Nvidia Surround setup, as some don't like their monitors in landscape and would prefer portrait.
If your getting a triple monitor stand then it doesn't matter what monitor you get. You can mount it the way you want.
Just make sure the monitor has VESA mounts (those 4 screw holes on the back of the monitor) or else you won't be able to mount it to the stand.
