Approximate Purchase Date: I would like to buy the parts this weekend (pretty great deals at the moment)

Budget Range: $500 (preferred) but no more than $600

System Usage from Most to Least Important: School work, Gaming (nothing crazy), surfing the internet

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: All, it will be a new build

Location: Buffalo, NY, USA

Parts Preferences: None really, I'm new so whatever will be the easiest to not screw up

Overclocking: Maybe (if it fits into my price range)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (if it fits into my price range)

Your Monitor Resolution: 1600 x 900

Additional Comments: I'm not looking for a high end gaming computer. Just something that is powerful enough to play games.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I would like to be able to play some games when I need a break from school. My current off the shelf PC just won't cut it anymore and it is time to update or build a new one.

no operating system. I CANT BELIEVE THE 8320 is 129.99, i just bought my fx 6300 for 119.99 like a week ago!!!!

personally, if you think youre tech savvy enough, just build it all. especially if you will be building most of it afterwards anyways. If you find its a great deal of savings then go for it.

The savings isn't really there. It is more of an insurance is the way my friend put it.

Another thing is that I keep hearing people saying you don't need an OS. You could transfer the one you have from your old machine to your new one or just flat out steal it from somewhere. Is transferring an OS even possible and if it is, how easy is it?

I also managed to whip something up on pcpartpicker. Will this work or am I missing something (other than the optical drive and OS)?

if you already have windows on an HDD it will work, you might get activation reminders about it being a genuine liscenced copy of windows, there are ways around it im sure. Torrents are obvious but you wont find help on how to steal that here at Tom's :p. Plus I have been caught by the EPA through my ISP ratting me out downloading XBOX games, and they shut off my internet and threatened to sue...so I coughed up 100.00 for Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 from my local MicroCenter lol

So transferring my current license is out...ok I guess. Is that the only problem with that set up I have though? The extra power supply isn't a big deal even though I only need 319 watts.
