Three way R9 290X vs Three way GForce 780 - 3 2560x1440 monitors

I am looking at throwing a large sum of money at a computer. I want to be able to run 3 2560x1440 monitors in eyefinity/surround for gaming. This will require a decent bit of power, so I was wondering if anyone could give some input: should I go with R9 290x or GForce 780. I'm going to be running them in three way crossfire/sli, as I've heard that is well optimized and good for three monitors. I have a small bias towards AMD, but if it runs better I will gladly take Nvidia. Any advice you can give is much welcome. I am going to have an intel i7-3970x processor, if that makes a difference. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks!

  1. Crossfire and multi-monitor is a no go, new drivers don't implement frame pacing on more than one monitor, choice is pretty easy from there on.

R9-290X supports Frame pacing Via hardware for crossfire / eyefinity
As the R9 290/290x are the first cards to come with hardware frame pacing so driver frame pacing is not required.
  3. 'The more you know'. Interesting change, certainly a good one.
