Will my graphics card fit in my motherboard? Also was it a good choice?

Hey guys, this is my first ever post on this site, I've read a lot of forums on this site and thought I'd ask a question myself.

I recently purchased a "XFX Radeon HD7970 Double Dissipation 3GB"

here's the link: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1309&products_id=25637

My motherboard is a "Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H"

here's a link to my motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4153#ov

Here is some more information about my PC:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Total Memory: 16352MB
Total Hard Drive: 1863GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

My question is will the graphics card actually FIT on my motherboard?
Was it a good choice? I compared it to many other graphics cards like the new 280x and other Nvidia cards and it came out better than most according to " http://www.hwcompare.com/ "

Any feedback at all will be GREATLY appreciated, Thank you for taking the time to read this. Zac

Hi! Welcome to Tomshardware :) the graphics card will fit, it is one of the graphics cards I recommend.

Here's my personal favorite list: Radeon 7970, R9 290 (If you're OK with the temperatures), GTX 700 series.

Thanks :) I'm glad it will fit and if it's in a favourite list it must be good!
Thanks for the feedback.
