I have a macbook pro. When I start the apple logo appears and then a message
Your computer is restarting because of a problem
It keeps repeating this and will not go anywhere.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks a lot. I have been away and missed your solution. Was getting desperate.
Will try your solution out. Is it possible for me to reload the Mac os software. I do not have a disk?

It depends upon the age of your Mac. Recent ones (that come without an optical drive) can reinstall the OS over the Internet. Other ones require a DVD or bootable USB stick.

HI The solution with the link cultomac seemed to work. I started holding the Shift key and a bar appeared at the bottom as if it was loading and just near halfway it disappeared and went back to the loga and spinning wheel?
Any other ideas.
Thanks again

Thanks Ijack it finally worked. The only problem is I get a flickering screen, tried doing Disk utility but the flicker comes back.
Thanks

It seems like a problem with the OS. Try reinstalling OSX (after backing up all important files). Also, remember to upgrade to the newest OSX (10.9 Mavericks).

If your OSX is anything other than 10.9 Mavericks, then just open the app store, search 'mavericks' and download it. Its free :)

Hi Shahmeer
I cant get it to start anymore. I tried using
/sbin/fsck -fy from the root dir and it worked
Gave a message at end saying
The volume Mac hd is ok
But when I tried to exit or restart it just has the spinning wheel even in safe mode.
I am not interested in the files or data as i have them backed up outside.
Is there anything else I can do say like replace the hard drive or anything else?

Can I update from the root directory thats the only place I seem to reach all the time.
Thanks a million. Any ideas area welcome

Sorry, but I'm no expert in the 'technical' side of things, so I'm probably no help here. However, I googled how you can change your HDD, and here are a few results I thought were good:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4040235?start=0&ts...
http://mac.appstorm.net/how-to/hardware-how-to/how-and-...

However, I you have the retina display version, you cannot change the Hard Drive. Sorry for not being much help.

I am having heaps of problems to start it and then use the
/sbin/fsck -fy command and when it starts to update it will not restart only hang with the apple sign and spinning wheel.
If I delete the contents of the hard drive will it help?
I do not have a disk to restart.
Please give me any ideas as I have the stuff I need backed up already.
Thanks
