Hey, I was wondering how to put BF3 on an SSD? I've been looking all over online and see complicated procedures, do I just copy It from the HDD and drag It Into the SSD? Or do I directly Install It onto the SSD? < and how would I do that?

An SSD is the single most important thing you can do to increase overall system responsiveness. Mechanical drives have long been the main bottleneck in a modern PC. If you have a higher end system it should have an SSD and even an older system will 'feel' faster if you add an SSD. A good SSD will last longer than any mechanical drive as well. But if speeding up one game is all you are worried about you probably are not going to see much but you will load and respawn faster.
Installing GAMEs on a SSD will not IMPROVE the game in anyway. If you do a Google for ADD SSD Tips and tricks, you will see the common way to use a SSD is for Windows OS and large programs (CAD, MAYA, etc.), so that when Windows needs to look up a font, or tell the computer how the mouse buttons work (drivers), etc. It doesn't 'slow down' your gaming experience waiting for Windows to do all this 'background stuff'. That said the first thing to know is SSD have low read /write lifecylces as compared to HDDs, so the best tips are to turn off Virtual memory, when you install programs go to thier Preferences and set the temp / log files to your normal HDD and so on.

Don't forget a SSD is very SMALL and will run out of space quickly if you just 'default' on all settings and installs. Unless the system comes preconfigured with one, you do have a long term maintenance and remember to manage things when doing this sort of upgrade.

Right except an SSD will very much improve load times and in multiplayer games that can give you an edge.

And lets be honest here SSDs are getting cheap. I just got a 500GB Samsung 840 Evo for about $50 more than I paid for my 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 about 3 years ago.

Even that drive with it's "inferior" TLC NAND will last for more years than everything else in your computer including any mechanical drives. Don't believe me? Check this out.

If you write 50GB a day to the smallest 120GB version, projected lifecycle is 8 years! The same writes to the 500GB drive yields 31 years before the drive is "officially" used up. Keep in mind those are Samsung's projected figures and in real world testing the drives are actually doubling that performance!

Also keep in mind the 840 Evo uses TLC NAND. MLC drives should almost double the lifespan of a TLC drive! So if you are really worried about wearing a drive out get the 840 Pro.

Hmmm, Thanks for the replies and help :)
But I was told that maps load In around 30 seconds or less for BF3 and most of the time Is spent logging In, so I'm not sure If I still want one now. How fast would It load In Multiplayer as well?

OHHHHHH... Have any links for that? I upgraded to a 250SSD Samsung, and wasn't too badly prices. I don't know if you seen in the TomsHardware.com newsfeed the new COMBO dirve, which is 2.5mm HDD with a second SSD drive over it (not a SHDD cache style).

The software, and every tip/trick listing (even here at Tomshardware.com) were saying what I posted for those reasons. Though I just rather err on side of caution then have to fork out another $250-500 for my computer to 'work' again (as the main drive of the computer) glad someone else had better results :)
