Question...Is upgrading the OS necessary? I have a hard time letting go of XP, and some of my old legacy programs may not run on Win 7, which apparently is what many are using now. I like dusting off some of the older games and stuff and running it once in a while.

Thanks for your time and consideration. This will be my first build in about 6 years. Always a learning experience getting caught up.

I haven't had any real compatabilty problems with windows 7 such as older hardware but I may not have as old software and such as you do you can always look at Microsoft and find out what will or will not work I belive there may be a place online that will run thru your system and tell you what will work and what wont before or if you upgrade ... Microsoft stops support for win xp april 2014 if you didn't know this hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. There are several facets of my post that hopefully others will take time to view and comment as well!
