Why not install windows 8 on your PC?
The virtual machine requires an application to run it first. The windows 7 would be responsible in handling that application. So i cant see anyway to boot the windows 8 without booting windows 7 first.

VHD boot in Windows 7 and Windows 8 is possible. It is covered here on TechNet starting with Step 4. Steps 1-3 pertain to creation of the VHD which you appear to have already done.

As mentioned in the other thread, depending on the environment in the VHD, this may result in driver incompatibilities and possibly even corruption.
