my i5 idle temp is around 55 celsius and max gaming temp is 92. is it normal or do i have to reapply the thermal paste?

It's not normal, reapply the thermal paste. Use the pea/rice method and make sure that the heatsink is well secured.

now i have reapplied the thermal paste. something is wrong... my idle temp increased to 70 celsius. when i play game it went near 100.

edit: i only watch videos from vlc and the cpu temp goes to 90+. help pls

Which method did you use for applying the thermal paste? Are you sure that the heatsink isn't loose?

i think the heatsink isnt loose. tbh im afraid to keep removing the heatsink again, i keep hearing this strange sound

Strange sound? There shouldn't be a problem removing the heatsink and placing it back multiple times. Is it push pin or with screws?

ok ive reapplied the thermal paste (again) and now the idle temp is 50 and the temp under stress test is 79. havent tried playing game yet.
is this good?

Well yeah, it's better. Just don't put the CPU under stress anymore, wait for a day or two and test it again. Until then do some light work. Post results after 2 days.

coolers aren't that expensive. I've seen coolers for under $10 that do the job much better than stock

It IS very quiet though.
Still doesn't mean i can handle your i5
