I have a home network of 6 windows 7 PCs (1 is a laptop) 3 tablets (2 droid 1 ipad)
xbox 360 wii and ps3.
ac 900 router (belkins)
one 3tb external HD and one 2TB external HD.
should I build a NAS or just keep my videos on one PC (both external HDs connected to it)?

More about : nas

up to you..
If the PC you have is on whenever you need access the files.. may be OK as is
if that PC is not always on whenever you (or anyone on your network)want access the files.. then NAS is a good solution.
I have similar setup to you.. and I would not be without my NAS.

My NAS is in RAID1.. so has some protection to a HDD failure....but its not a backup.. so whatever you do... don't forget/neglect your backups.

Cheers

You had that as a question.. or was it meant as a statement?

I don't mind what you do.. for me - the NAS is a shared area.. so if children do homework - they tend save it there so they can access form any PC on network.. so since that stuff is not anywhere else - it needs be backed up.
So for me..
Personal valuable PC stuff is backed up to NAS.
"NAS only" stuff is backed up to My PC
All is occasionally backed up to external HDD and kept off site (mostly to protect family photos/videos in case house burns down.. these are irreplacable)

So I don't mind what you do.. but if it valuable.. make sure it protected.. if it not valuable..don't worry about it.
