Hi all.

I recently had to use a start up recovery disk for my Toshiba laptop. I managed to get everything up and running and all is back to normal except for just 1 thing. As soon as I turn on my laptop i'm asked for a password. This is before I even start to go into my computer. I've never had this before. I set it and I don't have any problem with it. It's not like the normal password you use to get into your computer in general. It just seems strange for it to be there asking me for a password as soon as I start up the laptop. Would this have anything to do with the fact that I had to do a complete recovery for my laptop...?? As I stated earlier, it never appeared before and it does not bother me too much but I just wondered how it planted itself on the screen. Any help to remove it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the rapid reply. I get the password request the second I turn on the laptop. Once I enter the password the computer then loads up as normal and I enter the my normal password to enter windows. If it's a BIOS problem can it be rectified easily..?? I know nothing of BIOS but i'm PC literate enough to explore and solve some problems with a little help.

I wouldnt expect a bios password to appear unless you was actively trying to enter the bios at start up, but i cant think of any other password it would be asking for. If you know how to open the bios, do that, look for a tab along the lines of security and see if you can find an option for bios password, then set it to off if its on.
