I have an old computer that I have backed up my files on a western disgital external hard drive. Today My new pc arrives and I want to tranfer all the files from my old pc including program files and even bookmarks etc to the new one.

My back up was done onto the external with windows 7 via " create a disk image " and it seems to have created about 6 different images. Is this the correct way to backup and how do I tranfer?

There is also an option on the external to do a free trial of western digital software, should I do this or best manually or how does it all work?

Thanks for the rush of answers, however I have self answered for the benefit of anyone else who would like to know.
Whilst I was potting around the backup area I came across windows easy transfer, clicked on it and followed the steps. Saved it all to my harddrive, plugged it into the new pc and clicked on windows easy transfer, chose the file location I saved it to ( on the hard disk ) and there it was.

Most installed software did transfer like xampp but wamp didn't, adobe didn't etc and for bookmarks " I set up sync " in fireworks toold and that worked nicely.
Now all set up
