re-post:

So, today I'm getting a PC with gtx760, 8gb ram, fx-6300

I've done a lot of research and I've decided to OC the fx-6300 to catch up with the gtx760, but I need to know 2 things, will this cooler do or any cooler like this one do?

Cooler Evercool HPFA-10025EA AMD Buffalo

and the other thing is... I don't want to spend a lot of money on the mobo, I'm getting a cheap one, but how do I know if it will handle the OC?

Cooler Evercool HPFA-10025EA AMD Buffalo, let's see..

well, a cooler with 6mm 2 heatpipes only..
Slightly better than stock cooling, but actually this one is not intended for overclocking..

Get a better cooler..something like coolermaster 212+ will do this job.
With a proper cooling, your processor will easily touch 4.2 or even 4.4 Ghz

asus m5a97 r2 is the best mobo for budget user.
Fair overclocking ability, good vrm quality and support fx series without issue..

lololol, I built my pc already hahahaha, I got the m5a97 and one water cooler, now I just need to learn how to use overdriver to overclock it to 4.2 or 4.4 Ghz

don't use any software for overclocking..
do it manually through bios..

read this article..this is a good guide for overclocking with asus mobo...
http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-pi...

why? the software looks so simple to use, a 1 minute video teaches to use it... the guide you linked is very complex, I don't even know how to open the processor bios..

the main reason is, software based overclocking is (very) unstable compared to bios overclocking..

entering bios..?
easy, just press del button while your computer boot...:D

Hmm, but before doing it on Bios, I need to use a software to perform stress tests so I can know whats the right voltage for 3.2 Ghz right???

3.2..? fx6300 stock clock is 3.5

if you mean 4.2, then you should do it slowly..

first, find how far you may go with stock voltage..
and if it find any error while stressed, then add more voltage..

increase clock, and increase you core voltage..
as long as you still in safe range of core voltage and temperature, then you'll be fine..

overclocking is an adventure..
Full of mystery..and you have to find a best way with to find your treasure ...well, in this case, a source of power that make your processor a very strong wild beast :D

But of course, you must have a map, an accurate map to show you how to find it..:)

I'm afraid of breaking my CPU doing that, but, how do I perform the stress test? I will read a tutorial
