I would like some other suggestions and opinions.

Thoughts on this:
*Intel i5-3570K, ASUS P8Z77-V LX, GB DDR3 RAM, Nice thermaltake 600W PSU and thermaltake case, DVDRW, aftermarket cooler and LED fan all for about 500. It's cheap because it's as a bundle OR:

*i5-3570K, MSI Z77A-G45, Corsair 8GB, DDR3-1600

Also suggestions for a video card for minecraft, battlefield 4, borderlands, COD, etc

What do you think of those couple picks for motherboard and CPU? Thanks

Its an outdated chipset. Bundled PSU's are generally junk. Unless it's got an actual spec to the PSU its mostly likely not 80+ rated. Also you didn't specify the amount of RAM.

Also, in general, you get what you pay for.

Best bet would be to check out the sticky on the main page 'How to ask for newbuild advice' and post back. Can probably help you better that way.

Edit: Links to the bundles would be useful as well.

Noted about the chipset. RAM I'm not too worried about or PSU. I'll check that out. But I'm not a gamer so I'd like suggestions on a CPU and motherboard AND video card , please. Preferably Intel. I find AMD systems run hotter and I don't think they have the performance of Intel but people are pretty 50/50 on that.

Games this person will be playing are battlefield 4, COD, minecraft, borderlands.. things like that..

So, please CPU and motherboard suggestions. Overall budget for the whole system is 1000-1500

I can't find the first bundle I was talking about now, must be sold out. Thanks

So you would recommend the 4670K rather than the i5-3570K?
And I was thinking 8GB would be enough, you're saying 16?
I've heard others say a 2GB video card would be enough but I think 3-4 would be better. Again, I'm a systems builder but NOT a gamer.

4670k over 3570k yes, not much in it but no point not getting up to date hardware. 8gb is plenty, as i said i was being a little lazy with just x posting from another thread. Feel free to cut to 8gb. The GPU here will play pretty much all new game at ultra on 1080p at 60fps+. If you just want reasonable gaming on high then 2gb would also suit if you want to cut the cost. Something like a R280x would be a reasonable choice to cut costs if thats what you'd like.

i5-4670K, ASUS H87-PRO LGA, 8GB DDR3 1600 How about that?
As for your video card suggestion: Would a 2GB be enough? What do you think? Maybe something a bit cheaper? I know my cousin actually got a 4GB card some months ago for about 3 or 350 it was a MSI GTX760

Wouldnt get H87 as you cant overclock with it. If not overclocking then no point getting k version processor. 760 is a bit of a drop, maybe go for the 770 instead. GPU memory isnt everything, there are other factors involved.
