Soon i'm getting the Intel Xeon 1230 v3 , I'm also going buy another HD 7850 2GB.
My question To you guys is what motherboard will support this processor and is good for overclocking both GPU'S.(prefer 3.0PCI)
Further I do have 750 watts psu & 8GB 1333Mhz kingston.

I myself did also some research, thinking of the 'Asus Z87-A' /MSI "H87-G43 GAMING" ( this msi looks sick :D )

More about : motherboard pick intel xeon 1230v3 crossfire

May I ask why you're getting a Xeon processor? What is the computer for?

The Asus board would be my choice either board would work though. To answer the question above it is basically an I7 without the GPU core and is cheaper!
Just realized that the Asus will run CF at X8/X8 which is better than X16/X4 on the MSI! Another reason to go with the Asus

Hello... make sure you get the best reviews for either board... MSI comes up alot with problems I see from reviews.

Well I thought that Xeons would be more expensive than i7s because they're more reliable. Anyway, if it's cheaper get the Xeon, but I don't think it'll provide much more performance in games than an i5. Definitely go for Asus, though.

It's for gaming , I know it sounds weird i'm going for xeon because u think like "hey isn't that a workstation cpu"?(hell yeah :D )
It's because it works GREAT with gaming and many other stuff, it's delivers an i7 4770(none K ) performance.
another reason is it's basically an i7 4770 without integrated GPU.( also the price same like an i5 4670k)
I'll be more futureproof going with this instead of an i5 while it supports multirendering.
Also I'm playing games like BF4 that really shows a fps boost with this cpu(cause of multi rendering)

It has a locked multiplier and can not compete with a "K" series I5 in gaming but is a great choice for threaded applications because of the price.

I agree with that.

well maybe it can't outperform an i5 , but for sure it won't be less in any case while gaming.
another reason I chose for the xeon is , it seem to go better with crossfire.

This is even with the 1230 "V2"(a bit less than the v3)
and here's the i5 4670k :

Note that i'll be using it for gaming only (Future gaming will be multi-threaded)

For pure gaming, you don't really need overclocking (the CPU). It's more of a hobby thing. A Xeon CPU will be more durable than the i-series. As you said, I also handle better parallel computing, which is actually what it is intended for.
