Is it good idea to use mixed memory sticks? I have 4X2GB DDR3 1600 CL7. Something is always taking memory in windows, I want to get a 8GB and pull out 2 out of installed.

TigerDirect has

for black Friday deal.

the latency is different.

newegg has 1 stick 8GB, but search result show only CL8 or CL9 available for 1 stick 8GB, or 2 stick for CL7.

what will have if I have mixed latency?

no its not a good idea. Not only should you not fix latency and vendors you should buy ram in tested groups of 2,3,4 that have been tested to work together and not buy individual sticks of the same model #

Ideally you wouldn't mix and match, but you can. Over-clockers run ram way out of spec. On start-up enter your bios/UEFI and set your ram speed/latency at the speed of the slowest dimm. It will likely work fine, but there is the chance of incompatibility.

The above would be great, but then there is the "money thing".
4 gigs just isn't quit enough, 8 is good.

For $58, I'll be on this deal fast:

Check your motherboards owners manual. Usually you can do whatever, but not always.

the motherboard is dual channel. Is RAM formatable? I think I formated the RAM when I was trying out a clean up software. I have 8GB RAM but only 7GB usable. is that normal?

I want to add RAM to my system and all 4 slots are occupied. I do not want to change everything just want to have more than 8 GB. if I take out 2 sticks and put 1 stick 8GB with different CL, what will happen? not compatible or I must put 2 stick of same even different CL?
