Warped rainbow effect on Metroid Prime Trilogy game disc after being left in the cold?

EDIT: I looked at the disc again while in the car (which is where I initially looked at it before leaving it in the cold) and didn't see the rainbow effect so I'm assuming that the coldness didn't affect the game. Input on the visual quality of the disc is still appreciated, though. I'm just wanting to feel at least fairly confident that this copy I picked up doesn't have any evident flaws in comparison to its counterparts seeing as how the Trilogy is known for being fairly hard to find, at least for a decent price.

EDIT 2: If it helps, the disc looks similar to this.

I just bought the Metroid Prime Trilogy from gamestop. Directly after leaving the store, I looked at the disc to make sure that there weren't any marks or oddities and, as far as I could tell, there weren't any. Anyway, my friends who were with me wanted to go to a store so we went and I left the game in the car. After the whole trip and getting back home, I got a bit worried due to the climate being around 29 degrees fahrenheit at the time and looked at the disc again only to notice a warped, rainbow effect.

So I have a couple of questions:

1) Is this something to be alarmed about? I've been told that as long as the game starts up (which it did) then there's nothing to worry about due to the game's performance not being dependent on the condition of its disc. I know little of this specific topic so clarification would be appreciated.

2) Could anyone who ones the trilogy comment on the visual quality of their disc? It's possible that I just didn't see the rainbow effect when I first looked at it.

A reply to any one or all of these questions would be much appreciated. :)

If the game works, why worry?

Optical discs can withstand cold and hot temperature, especially if only exposed for such a short time. I would be worried if a DVD would be in my freezer for 24 hours, but even then I don't think it would make break it.

And don't all optical discs have a rainbow effect if you look at them in a specific way with the light reflecting?

In regards to the first sentence, I'm just rather ignorant in how optical discs work and wasn't sure if the possible damage could have caused lengthened load times or, even worse, crashes in certain portions of the game. I haven't experienced a crash yet, but I wouldn't otherwise know if the game was playing abnormally because I have nothing to compare it to. I've been told that a game simply starting up is evidence enough that the disc is fine, but that info was simply from a friend so further input on this is appreciated.

Regarding the last sentence, I have another Wii game, but it doesn't seem to reflect light in the same way. I've been told that the effect is prominent on discs with a high density of information. The Metroid Prime Trilogy contains three games so I'm guessing that could be the cause. Then again, that info came from a Gamestop employee so take that as you will.
