Hey all; it's that time of year. I'm looking to upgrade my GTX 460. I usually game on my 42 inch 3DTV in 1080p. I don't usually game in 3D because my GTX 460 has a bit of trouble with the added load; hoping I will at least be able to play the older games in high detail in 3D. I want to max out all the new games too. Arkham Origins, Planetside 2, Battlefield 4..

You don't need to worry about the rest of my PC specs... I'll make sure everything is compatible. Not trying to spend more than $350.

What are the good deals now guys?

Either an AMD R9 280X or Nvidia GTX 770 with that budget. Either would be a huge upgrade to your GTX 460. I still have a 460 myself and just ordered a GTX 780 last night to replace it. The 460 was an amazingly good card and lasted me 3 years. I have never kept a graphics card that long before.

Just make sure you have a quality 550-600w power supply to get the 280X or GTX 770. You really want more like 600w for the AMD card.
You can take your pick of GTX 770s at that price range, even the nice custom, factory overclocked models. I recommend sticking with your Nvidia cards in order to stick with what's worked for you in the past, and to maintain your PhysX capabilities in Batman and Planetside.

Yeah I'm not really partial to AMD or Nvidia -- I switch depending upon the value at the time -- but that's a good tip on the PhysX 17seconds. Thanks for the reminder about the PSU power anort3.

I'll try to look around for some deals.

If you do get a GTX 770 and ( more ifs ) if you have a motherboard with 2 PCI-E slots and if you have a power supply that can handle it you could always use the GTX 460 for a PhsyX card. That's where mine is going but I have all of the above.

I saw the MSI GTX 770 Lightning card for under $350 after rebate (Newegg), which means that just about any 770 should be available in that price range.

Even though I don't play it, I've always been impressed by the YouTube videos of the PhysX effects in Planetside 2. The latest patch for Call of Duty: Ghosts adds PhysX effects to that game as well, including dynamic smoke, and believe it or not, effects on the fur of dogs in the game.
