Hi guys

Been asked to help a friend with a budget gaming system and planning to centre it on the FX8320. He won't be overclocking so I'm looking for a good solid mobo that has decent features but don;t need to pay extra for a strong OC board.

3...2...1...go!

(Oh, and thanks for reading)

Solution
ASRock 970 Extreme4 is fine and ASUS M5A97 R2.0 is good because it has 4+2 power phase count, which is good for the FX 8 series. The Extreme4 has 4+1 count. Also asus MB is best for the amd cpu system.

If you are in USA, get the ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 for $55 after MIR, because your friend doesn't oc. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

If you are in Europe, get the Asus M5A97 R2.0 for £59.00 instead of the LE version ( £55). http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008RPYB0U/?tag=pcp0f-21

Thanks guys, I had put the ASRock 970 Extreme4 in initially. Just realised I didn't specify where I am (apologies and thanks for both prices cin19). That's £70 (UK).

So could you possibly summarise what he'd be sacrificing if he opted for the cheaper ASUS M5A97 R2.0? It's only a £10 difference so just trying to clarify if there's any benefit/drawback either way?

Thank you guys. Went with the Asus in the end - really solid brand, coming recommended and at a good price.

lp231 - thanks for adding those. He was happy to go with the M5A97 in the end for coupling middle-of-the-road pricing with good performance for AMD chips. The MSI was out anyway, it was only ever between Gigabyte, Asus and ASRock.

All of you - huge thanks for the quick help. Parts are being ordered as I type!
