is intel i5 better than AMD Quad-Core A8-4555M

Solution
well i have an amd a10-4600m laptop and it will smoke an i5 in gaming and still compares almost evenly to an i5 with a gt630m while getting much better battery life. trinity apu's like the amd a8-4555m are made to compete with the ULV "ultrabook" processors that intel puts out so that you can get amazing battery life out of your laptop. no amd laptop is an "ultrabook" because its an intel trademark and kind of a gimmick for saying the processor is a "ULV" (ultra low voltage) cpu. i dont per say "game" on my laptop because i have a desktop for that but my laptop does run battlefield 3 and skyrim on high settings outputting 720p to an hdtv and use a xbox 360 controller hooked to the built in bluetooth, and trust me... its better...

From my personal experience I've had an i5 laptop and a laptop with an A8-4500M. The i5 smoked it. The Intel cores work much harder than anything AMD puts out. I'm not biased towards Intel at all; I'm actually building an AMD based rig right now, the reason why Intel is so much better core for core is beyond my scope of knowledge but, if you look at the facts and charts Intel wins PER CORE every time.

True but overclocking a laptop is asking for trouble

Indeed.. But as I said it depends which model we were talking about, whether that was desktop or laptop. I think I went on a bit of a tangent with that last post, since the question was clearly about laptops.
