A10-6800k vs fx-8320 CPU power?

I am wondering if its worth to spend all my money I have to spend, like $300, on a new mobo, CPU, psu to go from my 6800k to an 8320 just so I can run higher end gpu's (gtx 780...) without a bottleneck or if I should just keep my money and current parts and use that money on a better card like a 770. Basically, should I make the CPU upgrade (would also require a better psu, mobo, external HDD to backup data) or keep my cpu, mobo, etc. and get a better gpu soon. Because if I do the system upgrade, I would have to wait and save up like another $400 for a better gpu. It all comes to one question, would my 6800k handle higher end gpu's? I can imagine it would because it is clocked at 4.1ghz instead of the fx8320's 3.5ghz, so doesn't that show the 6800k is actually better as a CPU? Please help me make the decision. Any help, advice, recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Ok I can sort all this out for you. The 8320 is stronger. I don't want anyone posting gaming benchmarks like low knowledge people. When you are benchmarking cpus you must look at heavy load task performances like editing. The 8350 has double the cores than the a10 and when it comes to overclocking you can achieve about the same on both, but with double the cores on the 8320 you can easily see a greater performance increase. The 8 core cpus are also starting to be taken more advantage of in next gen gaming and quad cores will soon begin to be less sufficient. So I suggest getting a 8320 or 8350 and instead of purchasing the 770 get a r9 270x or if you can I know that some 7950 cards are about 230$. Hope this helped! Enjoy building!

No i would just like to get a better gpu, like a 770. Please read the OP to get more info what this thread is asking.

You could upgrade to a 770 and see how it works out and if u have a annoying bottleneck you could still upgrade to a 8320.

the 6800k is basically the same thing as the x4 760k and is a little lower than a fx4xxx/6xxx... its still not a bad processor. you can get a good cpu cooler and overclock the 6800k... i think 4.6ghz or so is not uncommon so that will help with gaming. but i agree with vass, anything over a 7870 i think you will start to see a bottleneck, especially in cpu intensive games like skyrim cysis 3 or battlefield 4.

What gpu do u currently have?
If it was me id probably start by upgrading the gpu then upgrade the rest when you got the money.
This way you will get better performance straight away otherwise you will still be limited by your gpu if you upgrade the cpu first.
This does depend on what gpu you are running though..

I would say keep the cpu, mobo, etc and just get a nice gpu like 7970/770 but don't go higher than that.I would guess there would still be about 10% bottleneck but the cost of a new cpu and mobo is not justified for that.So keep your cpu and get a hi end card and don't worry about bottleneck as it wouldn't be significant enough to cause issues.

What I said was still relevant.

I really appreciated all your guys' feedback. It sounds to me based off your opinions that my cpu should be okay with like a 7870, btw, what is the NVIDIA equivalent of an Radeon HD 7870? a gtx 760, 770? I actually went to Microcenter and they were ALL OUT of everything i wanted. So i guess i will just get a 770 or something and later on upgrade my cpu.

Whoever asked, my full specs are in my signature but ill list them here:
NZXT Source 210 | AMD A10 6800k | MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 | 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws X 1866mhz | EVGA GeForce GTX SuperClocked 660 | Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm HDD | LG 24x Optical Drive | Corsair CX430M | Windows 8 64-bit

UPDATE: they actually just got a new shipment including the EVGA 750W psu which is still on sale for $50 till monday so ill try to go pick that up

660ti is the equivalent of the 7870, the 7870 is just a little better than your current card.get a 770 or 280x

No way i would get a 600 series gpu anymore, 700 series is way better and i had to learn the hard way :/ Also, i compared the 7870 to a vanilla 660 and i saw that they have near same performance on paper, but the 660 is way more expensive, any reason why? And the 280x is also cheaper than the 770, so which should i get? I play games like Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Rivals. Saints Row 4, Grid 2, GTA 5 (when it finally comes to pc!), Dead Rising 2, BF4, COD Ghosts, Bioshock Infinite, Assasins Creed 3 and eventually Black Flag.
For games like those, which card would be best?

P.S. please dont limit your answer based on my weak-er 6800k cpu, I would rather have a great gpu being bottlenecked by my cpu now, remember, eventually I will upgrade my cpu, and i dont care if i will be bottleneck by my cpu now; I dont want to have to upgrade gpu later on for a good while (couple years+)
Also, I play single monitor at 1080p at a 16:9 aspect ratio

I would say to get a 80 plus bonze psu at least 600 watts for upgradeability for around 50-65$. Then for the motherboard get the m5a97 r2.0 for 95-100$ its great for overclocking. Then the 8320 for 160$. total 320$
