Title pretty much says it all. The PSU is older (4-5 years), but it's a Corsair VX 450 watt. Would it be able to support the MSI R9 280X?

Other specs: Q6600, 4gb RAM, 2x 1TB HDDs in raid 0.

Thanks. :)

I'd reccomend at least a CX500(46 bucks), the 280X can pull almost 300w at load, and combined with your other components(namely, your dated, power guzzling CPU), it's really not optimal, at all.
the full tahiti chip with a very decent 1.3ghz overclock will pull about 275 watts give or take depending on the type of aftermarket cooler it has strapped to it. if all the power supply is going to be powering is the gpu ... a 450w power supply would be fine as long as it has enough amperage on its rail or rails. if you talking about powering it at the rest of the computer.... definitely not unless you have some ultra low voltage cpu and if you do... that cpu will badly bottleneck the amd tahiti chip.
