CPU temp at 90-100 C

As it says in title. People say should be 70 C or less. I'm using Intel i3-2100 with stock fan. It has always run at that temp since pc was built and my cpu usage rarely goes above 30%.

Should I be worried?

Should also mention nothing is overclocked.

As said above, it isn't normal. Here's what you should do

Go in the BIOS and check the CPU voltages and the fan speed profiles. Obviously check if the fan is working. Reapply thermal compound, be sure you're using a brand name which has good reviews. Clean well the CPU and heatsink with Isopropyl alcohol before applying. Be sure to have good airflow in the case. Leave enough space behind the case for exhaust.

Yeah the fan is working and it was the paste that was already on the stock fan when I connected it. Whats your best advice? Get more paste or invest in a better fan?

Intel sock fans always come with reapplied solid thermal compound. Is there enough pressure between the CPU and heatsink?

check what fits in your pc case & budget... but something else must still be wrong, even without paste it would not heat up this much. you sure the cooler is properly installed?

Bios says cpu fan speed at 2000rpm so yeah it working. Its always been that temp since pc was built and never had any crashes or any kind of problem. Think i'm just gona grab some paste and see if it improves and if not invest in a new fan. Should be able to get a decent coolermaster for about 30 pounds.

i suspect a faulty install of the cooler on the cpu. (not fully pressed on the cpu, or not the correct bracket?). even with no paste at all it should still cool it down and never let it reach these temps.

as Electromechanical Engineer said is hot air getting out of the case? - to check, run it with the side panel open. if the temps go down a lot it's the case airflow at fault.

i mean... i know the stock fans are bad but not this crappy....

what are you using to register the temps? is the cooler actually hot (touch it slightly on a corner while it's running - careful not to get burned).

it's possible also that the hard temp sensor on the cpu is broken, i've seen it happen. it's uncommon but possible...

One of the brackets was not pressed in all the way. It appeared in but need a harder push down compared to the others. Temp now at 38 C and holding. Thanks a lot for the advice Laviniu.
