I would like to know, what spec, feature, detail I should pay attention to in order to identify how many monitors a graphics card can support. I read the "details" on new egg, and it gives me a lot of speeds and hardware included, but it never says "can handle 2 monitors. 3 monitors, 6 monitors."

Now, I am aware most the time i will need an active adapter to enable a third monitor. I am also aware the hubs are what allow 6 monitors. As for googling it, almost all the threads are specific to individual gpus. I would just like to identify the one specification that answers the question, how many monitors.

Thanks

You can always look up the MANUAL for any video card, but most recent video cards support either three or four monitors (and as you said some may need to be Displayport or use an adapter).

For example, just go to Asus and say an HD7770, download the PDF manual and start reading it. There will be a diagram and text that tells you EXACTLY how it works.

Additionally, you can always add an inexpensive SECOND card like an HD6450 for extended screens (not gaming) and in some cases use the iGPU in a CPU for another monitor.
