How can i upgrade ram

Hi i want to upgrade my ram and i have found the right type and everything but i only have 2 slots andi want to upgrade to 6gb of ram so can i put a 4gb stickin one and a 2gb stick in the other by the way my operating system and components support 8gb but i hear that 2 slots can only have 2 2gb of ram thx.

it will work with a 4gb stick and a 2gb one.

but there's a catch. when you use identical or atleast similar size sticks they usually will run in dual channel mode giving you a speed bump of the whole ram of about 50-70%. with different sized modules you do not get this speed increase.

what's the model of your cpu?
