I have a DSL connection and i m using it as a wired connection which gives me RJ45 connecting to my laptop's RJ45 port. But i want to establish wireless and i already have an ADSL router with RJ11 port to it. Is their any way to have a converter from RJ45 to RJ11? OR Should i call for my DSL compay for any help.

You cannot turn a DSL modem/router combo unit into just a router for a different modem (DSL modem or cable modem).

If you cannot use the combo unit connected to the incoming DSL line RJ-11 jack, and must use the current DSL modem only unit, then you will...

They are 2 different standards which cannot talk directly with each other. You need a router in between to translate between them.

RJ45 is 10base-t/100base-t/1000base-t which uses up to 8 wires to send data in both directions along the cable at the same time.

RJ11 is basically your telephone line which consist of a 2 wires along which all data must travel, data can only travel along the cable in one direction at a time, either in or out but not both at the same time.

Lastly, there is a big difference in speeds between the two standards. RJ11 was for modems which got up to 57Kb/s, RJ45 is ethernet which started at 10Mb/s.
EDIT:ignore the last bit as I clearly forgot about adsl.

If you have a spare ADSL wifi router you could try loading it with dd-wrt and see if you can use a lan port as a Wan.

You probably have to buy a wifi 'Cable' router / Access point you can get then under $40

let me see if I have this right - you are currently using a cable modem/router which does not support wireless and you also have a spare adsl router which does support wireless and you want to know 1). if the wireless router can be used to add wireless to your setup and 2). how to do it.

So you have a DSL modem, but is it actually a router or just a modem?

If all you have is a modem, attach a wireless router to the RJ-45 jack that comes out of the modem to the WAN port of a router and setup your wireless. You will also have 4 wired LAN ports to use off the router as needed.

If you currently have a modem/router combo that lacks wireless, just buy a cheap wireless router and configure it as a wireless access point.

but my router doesn't have any WAN port, instead it as a port which can only accept RJ11 into it.

I think that u all r unclear abt problem

Its simple my internet provider has given me a modem with which i m using a wried connection right now to connect to internet. This wire which i plug into my laptop is RJ45(which it Ofcourse has to be). Now i have an Wireless ADSL2 + Modem Router which as a DSL port(RJ11). What should be done so that i get my router conneted to internet.

You cannot turn a DSL modem/router combo unit into just a router for a different modem (DSL modem or cable modem).

If you cannot use the combo unit connected to the incoming DSL line RJ-11 jack, and must use the current DSL modem only unit, then you will need to buy a router and connect the RJ-45 output jack of the DSL modem to the WAN port of the new router.
