Whats the motherboard for an Inspiron 660 and graphics card slot

I recently got an Inspiron 660 and am looking to get a AMD 7970 but it says on their website I need a X16 lane and was wondering if I have that or what is the best I could fit on my motherboard for gaming. My Inspiron has a 1 terra-byte hard drive, 8 gigs of RAM, a quad core i5 intel 3 GHz processor for additional information.Thanks I'm new to PC gaming and hardware

Well most likely you will need to upgrade your PSU as well, you do have the slot for the card!

The slot is call PCIe x16, the AMD HD 7970 uses a PCIe x16 slot.
What is your PSU? Take a picture of the label.

Is this how your Inspiron 660 looks like?

If yes then there isn't much room for a video card like the HD 7970 because it's too long and will hit the HDD brackets.
If your getting a HD7970, then grab a R9-280x, it's basically a HD7970 GE and a lot cheaper.

Yes that's how it looks.The psu I have is 300w but I am planning on ordering a corsair modular 850 watt tx series and since you mentioned it will it fit. On the graphics card what could I get to run modern games with a 50-60 fps. I have 350 to spend on the card

Hd7970, R9 280X and GTX770 are all candidates in your price range. All the system needs is 550watt quality PSU to run those cards.

Nope both wont fit. Asus gtx 760 mini will fit.

Will the psu I want fit and just out of curiosity whats the best graphics card for my slot size In my price range ( the suggested asus gtx mini) and how could i increase my slot size. I appreciate all the input. Thanks

Its not the slot, all video cards uses pcie x16. The problem is the case. Hdd bracket is in the way for adding long cards. Is that how your 660 look like or is it different?

Yeah it looks the same so my case is to small for the graphics card but what about the psu I want to order and is the asus gtx mini you suggested the best I can get for my case size

So would it even be possible to get a decent graphics card for gaming without changing cases preferably one with a good gpu for a good fps

Measure your case from HDD cage to the back panel, looking at the picture there are cards that fit! Then again you probably can dismantle the HDD cage and mount the HDD in the spare 5.25" bay. Where there is a will there is a way!

Not too much choices, for high-end cards. The only current new card that's good and will fit is the Asus GTX 760 DirectCU Mini or If you want to go back to last gen Asus GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. MSI has a GTX 760 mini too, but it's not out yet.

The HDD cage is bolted to the case, it would be quite difficult to remove it. Maybe a blow torch will help.
