I'm currently looking into building my first system using a Bitfenix Prodigy as the case,

I've come across these two power supplies, but I'm not sure either will fit?
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750G 80PLUS Gold:
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-NEX750G-Certified-120-PG-0750-GR/dp/B009YC3EAI/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1385791135&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=bequiet+750w

Corsair Professional Series HX 750 80PLUS gold:
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Watt-Modular-HX750/dp/B0090I9VZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1385795849&sr=1-1&keywords=HX+750w

Would either fit? Which would you recommend?

Secondly, I'm planning on running an r9 290 and a 4670k - are these power supplies overkill?

Thanks in advance

You want a good 650w power supply for a system with an R9 290/290X.

I recommend the Seasonic G series 650w. It's 80 Plus gold certified and modular so cables will not be a problem in a tight case. Cheapest here:

Now if you just want to save money this XFX is only $39 after rebate and is made by Seasonic like all XFX units. It's only 80 Plus Bronze certified but it's also modular. At this price it's a steal.

Hello,

That case of yours does have an issue with cabel management of larger PSU's I believe. The place for the PSU is also small so larger PSUs dont fit in there. If I were you, I'd change it to something a bit bigger and get a bit better PSU.
Here's what I recommend:
Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008
PSU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151106
As for the r9 290 and i5-4670k power requirements, this PSU will handle them very nicely. If you're willing to crossfire, I would get a 850W version of the Seasonic PSU I linked to you.

Hope this helps^^

Hello,

Unfortunately I already have my prodigy on-hand; would you still recommend that power supply?

Here is a link to the case by the way, apologies for not posting earlier:

Thanks again

Hello,

Well, if you're already planning to buy it/have bought it (sorry my english is not the best), then get it. It is by no means a bad PSU and will handle your suggested r9 290+15-4670k combo nicely. Also, the case you linked is a different one I looked up. So the PSU and the card should fit in there. If you can however, get the 650W Seasonic PSU:)

Hope this helps:)
