hooked up a 1TB HDD to an old pc and it's there in disk management however I can't assign a letter to it.

hooked up a 1TB HDD to an old pc and it's there in disk management however I can't assign a letter to it. All I can do is delete partition.

Is the old pc drives partition windows or something else?
I'm assuming you are trying to not delete the partition so you can get at the files. Just to be sure, you need to rt click on the partition itself and not on the DISK 1 area thats to the left side and the option you want is to Change drive letter and paths

that's the thing though all I can do is delete partition, everything else is grayed out.
