Hi all looking for some help/advice with my first ever PC upgrade #yay

So I'm 99% sure this is the Motherboard I own.
http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3967#

I have already updated the bios about a year ago, to the most current version FC, but still finding myself needing some more power, and decided its time to upgrade the CPU. The compatibility list on the official website ends with the FX-8140 which has been discontinued.

So my question is, would any of the current AM3+ socket FX CPU's work in this motherboard?

I saw somewhere else that if I have the right version mobo and bios updates to the most recent, that the newer CPU's from the same series should work. Will they? Currently looking to buy either a FX-8150, 8320, or 8350. Or even a 6100 if thats the only option.

As you can see I'm trying to avoid buying a whole new Mobo as that is hopefully a further down the road upgrade. Any help or information is appreciated

Thanks for the answer, but like I said I'm am not looking to upgrade the mobo at the moment. So are there any other options that are still available or do all the AMD CPU on the market at the moment require a new mobo. The 8150 is the one I had my eye on most if that matters and seems like someone else with the same mobo was told not to long ago on this site that a 6100 would work as well even though its newer.

Also what is the limit you mentioned, this is my first pc and upgrade so I have no clue what you were saying there.

are only bulldozer CPU's are compatible with that motherboard? If it could handle a piledriver chip do that, but based off the suggestions idk. (4300, 6300/6350. 8320/8350) the bulldozer chips are worse, (4100, 6100, 81XX)

Yeah I saw the list, but it does not seem to have been updated in a long time.

so from whats out now, does that mean something like this is my only option out there ?

A 95watt, AM3+ CPU. The rest are all 125watt.

Basically my CPU options are limited by the 95 watt limit right? Anything beyond that will not work?

why sink any more money into that? Id wait for cyber Monday and try to get a 970 chipset motherboard with an fx 6300, or an 8320 depending on sale prices. kinda rabbit hole investing in that old board
