How to improve gaming performance on acer aspire 5740G

Is it possible to improve the gaming performance on acer inspire 5740G. I would like to use it for my son for gaming (minecraft). He says it lags on minecraft.

For a four year old computer, not really much can be done other then maxing the memory (it lists 8GB as the max) and if there is TWO slots for Hard Drives, add a SSD and reinstall Windows to the SSD with the HDD as storage of files. That will give a nice boost in both but your stuck with a Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Shared memory Video, which is a problem. Have you made sure your on all the latest drivers?

only two options: upgrade RAM to 8GB. but I'm not sure it's worth it. Second, get a SSD for quicker boot times.

It really comes down to what CPU and GPU you have, and since its a acer inspire 5740G you can't change them.
