Hello,

My Laptop Model is: NP 350-E5C-S01-HK (Samsung Hong Kong)
It has 4GB DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHZ (as per specification), however DRAM frequency as per CPU-Z software is around 798 MHZ (why its less?)- CAS latency is 11.0 clocks, it is PCR3-12800, under SPD heading of CPU-Z software there are timing tables shown for RAM as JEDEC#4, JEDEC#5, JEDEC#6, JEDEC#7 (what does that mean? why there are 4 different timings? please explain)-

Now please tell me which RAM should i buy, better if you can tell the model, also i dont know mine is 4GBx1 or 1GBx4 configuration, how to figure that out? does it make any difference, i have shortlisted 2 RAM one is Gskill value ram 4GB x1 and another is Corsair Vengeance 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 with 1x4GB configuration, which will be better for me? should i look into any further information and specification to decide on which RAM to upgrade? Please help me out its all confusing for me as i don't have any technical knowledge.

thank you

There is a link here explaining the JEDEC timings http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/ddr3-memory-timings...

Your DDR3 ram is rated to run 1600MHz however it dual channel ram so the speed of each channel is 800MHZ (x2 is 1600MHz).

On the underside of the laptop there will be various panels with a screw holding it on. Under one of them will be your RAM expansion slots. In CPU-z under the SPD tab you can cycle through the available RAM slots to see what you have installed in each slot. Hope this helps.

Thank You, please note I am from small town and here there is no technical help, so I have to order RAM at my risk, if it doesn't work well with my existing RAM i will lose money- hence i want to be sure before i order it online

Memory Configuration- What is mine, is it 2X 2 or 1X 4 or 4X 1- and will that matter if i install a different configuration from what is already there
Max Bandwidth is - PC3-12800 (800 mhz)
CAS Latency- 8-9-10-11

My question is:
A) What specs should be must considered before i order so that it is compatible & works best with my existing RAM
B) Which configuration will be best for me 2X 2 or 1X 4 or 4X 1- what is difference between all these btw
C) With similar specs which is better brand corsair (cheaper here) or Gskill (8 $/ 500 INR more here)

Just applied new RAM which i had ordered with my existing Samsung RAM, both are working in Dual mode (CPU-Z)

All others details checked are exactly the same Windows experience index up to 7.5 from 5.9 (RAM)

Hopefully the new RAM is welcomed by my laptop :-)
