Building custom pc. Advise needed

Hi guys,

I'm building a custom pc with a budget of $600. I've picked out the parts but if there's a better part, please advise me on it. Below are the details:

CPU: Core i5-4570

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87-D3HP

Video Card: Gigabyte GF GTX650 OC 1GB DDR5

Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 (2x4gb)

Optical Drive: Lite-On 24xSATA

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Power Supply: Cooler Master GX-550W

Case: Cooler Master K280 - I'm choosing this case as it's a budget case with a usb 3.0 port at the front. I would love to hear about any suggestions for a case that has 2 usb3.0 ports in front, possibly a window, dust filters, and good cable management for good air flow. I know it's crazy but anyone has an idea for such a case?

This pc will be used mostly for gaming like Call of Duty series, MS Office and web browsing. Also can anyone recommend if I should be using Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 Ultimate for this build. Oh and I'm a noob so I don't do any overclocking. Thanks in advance

Hello,

Your build isn't bad, but for 600 euros, I personally would make a few adjustments^^
Here's a build I'd say is very good for 600 dollar price range:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2bTaL
The most notable thing is that this build has an amd card+processor. The AMD processor is on par with your intel suggestion, but it is very slightly worse.
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/368/AMD_FX-Series_FX-6350_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4570.html
As for the videocard, the His amd r9 270x is significantly beter than the gigabyte gtx 650 OC edition.
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1946&gid2=1176&compare=
The r9 270x model is on par with gtx 760, being only slightly worse.
With these parts you should be able to get a bit more power to your system.
Hope this helps^^

Hi, I get that the video card is not ideal but it fits into my already blown initial budget. I see that using AMD processors do get me a little more to spend on the graphics card but the graphics card in the article you quoted is a little too expensive from where I come from. Should I change my processor to AMD or should I just select a cheaper motherboard?

-What is your budget?
-Where do you live?
-Can you give us some webpages from your local pc stores, so we can help you in picking the right parts

Hello, thank you for taking the time to give your insight on my build.

Kinda my bad for not mentioning the currency sincere apologies on that. Actually my initial budget is at USD$600 which is much lower than Euros and I've already went past the budget. Yes, the AMD processor is slightly cheaper than my current choice Intel processor. Is there any difference on whether AMD or Intel is better? I don't know much on hardwares but one thing I come to realize is that most computers notebooks or desktops normally use Intel which was why I decided to build an Intel pc however my budget is becoming a downfall sort of to say. Is it the same?

Due to my budget constrain, I can't seem to pick any of your video card suggestion as it is really expensive from where I come from. Is the 650Ti much better or insignificantly? Also to accomodate that card I may need to downgrade other parts. Can you tell if the Gigabyte HD7770 OC is any better?

Hello, so sorry for the late delay. I had issues with my internet connection today. I live in Malaysia and my budget for my new build is at MYR2000 which I know is not a lot and I'm already over budget. I will appreciate your help in selecting the best parts. I have listed below several websites on the hardware availability. The price list is downloadable via pdf format in the below links but the font is quite small. I will not be making online purchases as I'm going to the IT mall to make my purchase so I may be able to get a better price than listed as I don't know how updated the price list are.

I hope the links above are helpful. Thanks again for your help.

Look at my build above it's better than this and costs a lot less too.

The OP wants his parts to be bought in Malaysia, not from USA, feel free to check the Malaysian websites and check the prices.

finally met one from Malaysia! had you said that earlier it would have been much more easier cause Malaysia IT price is sucks! try lowyat. that should be the IT heaven for everything. and also check hardwarezone.com for the price list.

the build given by razerz seems good! but IMO i would take corsair vs 550w or FSP hexa 500w, think it is just better. while you are at it, you could still even bargain for a lower price, then you might able upgrade to fx 6350. all this could last you about two years at high setting.

Just a curious question, can such a cheap motherboard be paired with a much more expenssive GPU? Also, is it vital to have a PSU that has the 80 plus certification?

well, the thing with razerz's build is that I can't seem to see if that specific model of motherboard, PSU or memory is available in Malaysia; it doesn't seem to be listed on the price list that I got.

Ha ha yes, the IT price is a little too high. I wish I could go to sites like newegg. I will be going to lowyat to make my purchases rather soon I think. I checked hardwarezone.com however, I don't think the price list are that updated.

Just a little question, does anyone have a suggestion for an Intel build pc that would work with the latest games?

You can pair it with even more cheaper motherboard, but i have picked that motherboard because it is 970 chipset, which is required for the piledriver/vishera FX cpu's. About the PSU, 80+ certification is all about efficiency, if electricity is expensive in Malaysia than you will see some benefit in 80+ certification, if not, the difference between 80+bronze and 80+ platinum is questionable if the electricity is cheap.

with intel build then you will short of budget for the graphics card. cause with intel you need a i5 which is almost at least rm100 more than a fx 6300 yet the performance gain is no really too much(10fps difference maybe). with that rm100 you could get a stonger graphics card(gain back another 10fps) unless it is really a very-super-duper cpu demanding game. so far there is none and most benchmark show the fx 6300 is quite capable of gaming with smooth fps.
