How do I connect an external HDD with USB connection to an access point with only ethernet ports. I've tried a simple USB/Ethernet connector but the access point doesn't recognise the HDD
Or keep your existing router and buy a NAS drive (Network Attached Storage). They have an ethernet port so you can connect it to a standard router with a CAT5 cable. This is an example of a NAS hard drive: http://www.dabs.com/products/buffalo-2tb-linkstation-live-nas-7QMJ.html?src=3
Thanks for the answer. I guess I knew this is the ultimate solution. However I still don't understand why the USB HDD does not work with the router through an Ethernet connector.
