Had a compaq desktop fitted with extra RAM memory which kept bluescreening after too many days in for repair I gave up and bought a Dell. Because of the compaq continually bluescreening I couldn't back up my data. My problem is my Compaq RAM card doesn't fit in the Dell motherboard, How can I retrieve all my data (i.e. ITunes)

For starters RAM is the "active" memory (gets wiped upon power loss) and a Hard Drive is permanent storage. all of your data will be on your hard drive that looks like this:

Secondly, your Compaq is probably fine and there is a software issue. if you repeatedly press F8 while you are booting the Compaq you should be able to get to a menu screen that has safe mode as an option, if you press that you might be able to fix the PC by removing the program causing the issue.

Sorry about the confusion I don't know about computers, the man in the shop spent days trying to find the corrupt program but gave up saying the cost of his time would be more than the value of the pc so it was cheaper to get the Dell. I've stripped the compaq of hard drive and memory cards x2 which don't fit in the new Dell motherboard (different key slot). There are 2 spare cables which fit would onto my old sato hard drive but red cable, I have the old red cable but don't know to plug it onto the mother board
