Hi, I have an AMD Phenom II X6 1045t @ 2.7GHz and was wondering if overclocking would be okay for me to try on my motherboard? It's a LENOVO Tilapia CRB motherboard with a 780G chipset. It's almost 3 years old now I'd say. Would it be okay for me to try to overclock the CPU to say 3.1 or 3.2 GHz, or would I potentially fry my components by doing so?

EDIT: Forgot to say that the reason I would like to overclock is that my performance in games is not as good as expected with an MSI Radeon HD 7870, the GPU usage only goes up to about 40% during a game, causing low fps.

Thanks.

Just did a quick search and your motherboard appears to only support up to 95w CPU's.

Your CPU is 95w stock. I would not try to pull any more power out of that motherboard.

Thank you so much for the help. I will not try to overclock it then.
