Hi guys,

I just got my asus GTX 770 directcu II 2gb OC, the card runs fine after installation at the case, but inside windows 7, my card is not detected as gtx 770, but only as ordinary default card using default driver, so I installed the necessary driver but it's still unrecognized as a GTX 770, so I downloaded drivers from asus "bios/drivers/utilities" and should be the latest.

Bios was the last I'm installing, but right after I run the setup, a screen appeared and then, my computer restarted automatically T_T and then,.. my desktop won't boot up :( and there's a weird beeping sound appeared @_@ I'm using the on board graphics and my pc doesn't encounter any problem but if I put the 770 again, the problem is still there.. GTX 470 was the card I was using before 770. Is my card dead? and I'm really depressed right now.. Thanks for any help!

Solution
You could try the 770 in a different pc and if it doesn't work send it back under warranty.
Just tell them you only tried the drivers from the Asus website. If it's faulty they will probably just send you a new one. I wish I could think of something else to suggest but I can't, sorry:(
I hope this situation gets resolved for you

psu is thermaltake toughpower 700W 80+ bronze (used with my old GTX470 and 560)
power plugs to the graphics card are firm, the GTX 770's led power lit green
mobo - asus m5a78l-m lx (though I used 470 and 560 in this board with no problems, I just gave my old card to my brother so that I can upgrade and don't want to have sli)

before I installed the asus latest drivers, all is well and I can access my desktop, but after I installed the drivers, my pc restarted automatically and there's a beeping sound appeared like when you have a problematic memory and my monitor says it's on power saving mode and I can't even go to bios, but the gtx 770 has power and the fans are spinning..

thanks for asking jay2577.. it's really sooo sad :(

Have you tried the drivers directly from the Nvidia website as well as from the Asus website?
When you said you instaled the bios what did you mean? If you did a motherboard bios update you might need to reinstall windows again. I came across a similar problem after someone did a bios update and a clean install of windows fixed it.
You could also try the card in your brothers pc to see if it works.
The GTX770 is an awesome card and we'll try to sort the problem out so try not to get too depressed :)

well, I did update nvidia's latest driver (since my previous card is gtx 470), but the pc still don't recognize my card as gtx 770, it's just still using the default windows driver. So after that, I downloaded the asus gtx 770 drivers directly from asus website (same drivers from the cd that came with the card but updated)

I installed the 3 drivers, from GPU tweak then VGA then vBIOS, then after the setup screen of vbios appeared, my pc suddenly restarted and then I can't boot to my pc and then there's a beeping sound :( my motor started to power saving mode. I am using my onboard gpu and means that my pc is ok but not the gtx 770 :(

I updated my mobo bios but still no luck and reset the cmos but still the problems there :(

Do you think it can be repaired by the manufacturer? it's still under warranty I think since it's just been one month from it's purchase, I just installed the drivers that directly came from asus website :( is, it, dead..? T_T

What can I do?.. T_T I really want to to cry, even if I'm late 20's T_T

I hope there's still a solution :(

--update--
OH MY GOD! this is what's happening to me right now..

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1903202/asus-gtx-770-vbios-update-failed.html

but I used the vbios installer that came from asus website not from gpu tweak. he said he used nvflash.. is it the answer?

Had this problem with my ASUS GTX 770 This is how we solved it. Put the Video card in my friends computer, downloaded the latest Video Card BIOS from ASUS and updated my card. After I did that it booted in my system the first time.

Thanks jay2577 :) I returned it for warranty (I hope they will) and for now I have evga gtx 770 4gb SC :) and I'm really happy it makes me cry literally T_T

my another concern is if you don't mind, would you know if it's compatible with my system (old) right now? (will buy new computer set next year)
current setup -
cpu - amd phenom II x4
mobo - asus m5a78l-m lx
psu - fsp raider 750w 80+silver
2 sticks 4gb memory
1 500 gb hd
1 dvd rom
I'll donate it to my brother next year along with the vid card, I'm just worried,.. will it run fine or will it encounter problems along the way cuz off my old system doesn't fully support it?

Thanks man! \m/

@Goteleib
Awwwww saaadddd T_T that never crossed my mind T_T mine never went to start up screen and just beeping. So, what happened to your card is, it booted up to your friends desktop? I mean, how can I upgrade the bios if I can't boot to desktop? is there a way? Thanks for the info man! :D

Yes it will be fine with your current system but your CPU might hold it back in some games. You didn't put the speed of your CPU so i don't know how much it will hold it back. When you do upgrade to a newer CPU you will probably see a performance boost in games.
The other thing which worried me a bit is your PSU:ouch:
It's not a very good quality unit and when you do upgrade your system i advise you buy a good quality one. Brands like Seasonic, Antec, XFX and Corsair(not cx series) are all good choices.
The power supply unit is quite often overlooked but it is one of the most important parts of a computer.
I've pasted a portion of a review on your current PSU for you to read:)

The load testing results for the FSP RAIDER 750W are a total wreck. The voltage regulation on this unit was just horrid in a number of ways. In our load tests, the 12v rail had a peak change of 0.96v and drop way below the ATX12v specification limits. The 5v rail was also trying to break on through on the north side but it did not quite in our load tests. However, when we ran the 80 Plus tests it hit right at the ATX12v specification limit on the high side while the 3.3v rail hit right at the limit on the low side. Overall, this unit really had voltage regulation that was about as stable as quick sand. When we looked at the unit’s efficiency things were a bit better as the unit was 83.98% to 89.42% efficient at 120v and 81.37% to 88.39% efficient at 100v. On top of that, it was 81.27%-89.02%-87.20% efficient in the 80 Plus tests making the largest miss on its 80 Plus Bronze rating ~0.73%. Overall, I can’t really think of a 750W unit we have seen in recent times that had this bad of voltage regulation so I don’t have much for you to compare these results too. Just know, that 11.09v on the 12v rail is not inside of the ATX12v specification limits so it is certainly a failure for this unit.

Given the previous results, would it be a surprise if the RAIDER 750W failed the Transient Load Testing portion of testing too? Well, if it is; surprise! During our Transient Load Test the 12v rail had a peak change of ~450mV and the 5v rail had a peak change of ~130mV. The problem with this is the 12v rail dropped to 11.34v under this load and that means that the unit is again out of the ATX12v specification limits. While a ~450mV change is not a value that is leaps and bounds larger than what we have seen from other ~750W units, the problem is the starting voltage when that particular change occurred. All in all, the magnitude is almost in line with other units but the result is out of specification limits so it does not pass this portion of testing either.

This was taken from this website
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/01/03/fsp_raider_750w_power_supply_review/1#.UqTXOeKKqUk

I highly recommend the next thing you save up for is a new power supply unit.
When the time comes for a new build all you need to do is post on these forums with your budget and you will get a lot of suggestions on the best build you can get:)

I hope this helps

Not to my knowledge, I had the exact same issue as you with my rig, couldnt even access the motherboard's BIOS/setup as it wouldn't complete POSTing. I got lucky and had a buddy who's build was compatible so we put it in his system and it booted no problem, Downloaded the bios from ASUS on his PC, it was just an .exe and it updated the videocard then we took it out and put it in mine and everything booted. My mobo is MSI p67a-gd65 my best guess from trolling through forum after forum trying to find a solution is that the Earlier 7xxs BIOS may of had issues with the backwards compatibility of PCI E 3.0 to PCI E 2.0 ... but I dont actually know if that is accurate xDDD

Lucky indeed! just got my GTX770 and worked for about 20min then black screen. Since then PC won't pass the POSTing... The good thing is that I have a video chipset on my mobo so the PC is not completely useless for now as it boots when I remove the GPU. I guess I just need to return the card since I don't have anyone with a Desktop near me.
