unformatting Windows 8 from SSD to re-install genuine version

I have a relatively new PC with a pirated version of windows 8 installed. I want to clean the SSD and re-install a genuine version.

OK.
Buy a valid copy of Windows and install. During the install, you'll have the option of blowing away whatever is on that drive.

So are you saying that i can just load the Windows 8 CD let it run, put in the new product key and over write what ever is already on the SSD?
