Hi everyone,

I’m putting together my first gaming rig and would like to get some feedback/advice to make sure I’m headed in the right direction. Mainly if this build is overpowered/underpowered, or where different components would offer better price to performance. Thanks a lot for your advice.

Approximate Purchase Date: week starting Dec. 2

Budget Range: $1200 (I’m in the Czech Republic, so $ prices are illustrative)

System Usage (most to least important): Gaming, surfing the net, office work

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: No

Location: Czech Republic

Overclocking: Probably not (hence the non-K CPU)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in the future

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200

Additional Comments: For gaming it’s mostly Skyrim and other RPGs, but would like to try out some of the newer FPS like BF4, etc.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor $211
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $136
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $58
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk $85
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card $308
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case $83
Power Supply: SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply $80
Monitor: Dell U2412M 60Hz 24.0" Monitor $245
Total $1206

to be honest the price difference between the 2 cpu's is so little its worth it to get the 4670k and have the option to OC if you decide to later on. either way, you have a solid build going there.

Thanks for the advice. So, if I'm not going to overclock, then should I be looking at a different mobo?
