I just installed Avast Free Edition. However, on the top it is written that it is not registered and I have 30 days left. Can you please tell me what happens after these 30 days pass? Will I still be able to use the software and if yes, which features will be disabled? Thank you.

All you need to do is to register it by giving it your name and e-mail. You can make up a name if you don't want to give them your real name, and you can give them your throw-away e-mail rather than your primary e-mail account if you'd like. Then the free software will run for a full year before requiring you to register it again.

Yeah, I did the same thing. Been using the free version of Avast for several years, and the other day it notified me of a "needed" upgrade, so I just clicked and did it without really looking at it. What it did was install the stepped up free 30 day trial version. Kind of a tricky little bait and switch ploy if you ask me, but anyway, I just uninstalled it, and reinstalled the free version.

bottom line is you have to register the free version as well as the paid version. just click register and follow the prompts. never had a problem with it myself.jitpublisher, its just a matter of semantics here lol. the difference between an update and an upgrade.updates are free and upgrades cost money.

I already did that, I am trying to say it in the last 2 posts.Anyway, sorry for not explaining it in a more informative way. It's just that one of the two persons above me said there are free, free trial and full version and that I have to choose the free version.I already did that, so I was thinking I am not doing everything right, since the "30 day" trial message still appears.

are you serious? might want to look at some independant antivirus ratings.avast ranks near the top. might also want to look into the fact that even microsoft recommends mse users not to rely just on mse.not trying to raise a debate here but come on "5 times better"?
