So the price difference between them is 20$ in my country (converted RS to $)I know r9280x is better but the thing is I'd have to buy a bigger chasis and can r9 280x run properly on my amd phenom IIx6 1090t overclocked to 3.8ghz w/ a hyper 212 evo 6 gb of ram.My psu is 550w gx cooler master 80 plus bronze w/o 60 amps of 12v.I know it can run the gtx 760 fine but I was wondering will it be the same for the r9 280x since it requiers more watt. and can someone give me benchmark difference between r9 280x and gtx 760.

check toms reviews, there are loads of articles with details, but generally it is 270x=760/280x=770 ( with slight differences)
take a look around, maybe there is a short enough 280x that will suit your need
What kind of monitor do you have?
about PSU, I am not sure, because of the OC might draw loads of power, but wait for an OC/PSU master here

I have a 1920x1080 monitor but I'm looking to run the graphic card for the next 5-7 years like play until I can't even run the games that are released on low so I'd like to get the best graphic card for that price range.

You guys aren't providing me any benchmarks nor any solid statements >_>.And the fact that I have to buy a whole new chasis is another thing that will add to my cost.

okay. first. GOOGLE is your pretty friend.
Second. type 280x in the pretty searchbar above, and search for pretty articles
third. you were asking which one is better, not which option is cheaper.
lastly. 2 of the people stated pretty solid statements, about th categories.
If you are not sure, what do they mean.. ask back. dont tell us that we are pretty bad at helping.

(PS: change the word "pretty" with other words, might start with an f.)

To answer your original question, the 280x is more powerful than the 760. If you're on a budget, get the 270x or the 760, and if you want performance, get the 770 or 280x. And as Nefos said, google is your best friend. You could have easily found an answer by now if you just looked.

This forum is made for beginners to ask questions about computer related questions.
I've read the articles but I cannot find a benchmark
Yes I've asked which one is better but I've also stated to provide some benchmark
All they said was r9 280x is equal to 7970 which I know,But I do not know the benchmark difference between the two so how would I know whats the difference of fps between them and I'd have to buy a whole chasis so I need to know if it is truly worth it.Words like yeah its worth it or yeah r9 280x is equal to 7970 makes no sense to me as even I know that but I need benchmarks and detailed explanation like how much is 3gb better then 2b of vram etc

so I'd be paying a difference of 140$ between the gtx 760 and r9 280x theoratically due to the chasis cost,so the question is Is the 140$ really worth the fps improvement?

do not overclock the first, it will be enough too

My biggest problem was that you were not stated that you are a beginner, nor did you followed the guide of choosing GPU, so we did not had enough information about you, or the system.
That is the reason why toms and me ask for phrase and write in a nicely laid out form.
If you would spend 5 minutes on the article about the layout and phrasing, we could understand the question better, and we can give exact answer.

There are several categories in graphics card.
usually= 270x ( that is a rebranded HD 7870) has nearly equal power to a GTX 760= they are desinged for 1080p Ultra resolution gaming, and most of the time, they can give playable FPS in games at these settings

280x (yes, that is the HD 7970) is nearly equal to GTX 770. These are designed to play games at 1440 in ULTRA details, so they are more powerful than the tier below, and they can play games 1080p faste ( around %20)

Take a look around at the specs of the 280x, maybe there will be a short version, that will fit your case. May I ask what type of case do you own?

For price, GTX 760 would be cheaper. But for performance/price, 7970/280x would be a better choice, and more future proof.

Toms hardware does benchmarking with loads of games. Please, if you can, use the benchmarks above. Only take a look at gaming benchmarks ( if you will do only gaming), because the synthetic and productivity programs are not reflect the gaming performance.

It depends on what you're looking for. Price to performance ratio, the 760 is better, but the 770/280x is much more future proof. If you are able to spend the extra money, and are planning on gaming for the next 5 to 6 years, it's definitely worth the extra so you don't need to upgrade again in the future.

In my country we only have asus r9 280x so its 11.5inchs and my chasis can only handle 10.5 inches.
But by the given benchmarks I'm seeing about a 30% improvement in the gaming but I'm still debating whether 30% performance gain is worth the 140% but I got my question answered so thank you for helping me out.

Why would you pay 120$ for a case? you do not need that expensive
Check Zalman Z11, it is £48, should be around $75, you can find cases for cheaper
