Assassin's Creed IV won't load saves.

Every time I start the game when I go into single player it wants to start a new game. I've already gotten about 10% in and I don't want to restart. I can confirm that the save files are in fact saved and in the game's files. The save file isn't corrupted because it won't load new games either. Should my best course of action be backing up my saves and re installing?

No, that's off. I've also re-installed the game with no avail.

i just happened to lose my 11% saved game.. the problem was that it never got saved...i was playing for 5hrs straight.....and i also happened to exit out of the database twice.....i could reload the saved game...but once when i restarted my computer....it was all gone....

may be the issue was that i used to hit esc when the ubisoft logging thing was on...
now i find it oddly tiring .....

can you email me that 10% save game pls
