I can see the Disk on my desktop and it's sub folders in the normal way, but terminal won't connect.
I am running this Terminal command

chmod +x clockinstall.sh
./clockinstall.sh

(and this is the result i get....)

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found
< waiting for device >

What exactly are you trying to do? What is clockinstall.sh? Are you trying to install a program on the Android device? You can't do so by connecting the device as a disk drive.

Hi Ijack

yes i am trying to run a programme on the Android device. I'm following these instructions - the section for a mac. The phone itself doesn't have a mount feature (as in previous model) but shows up on the mac by mounting the SD card.

Do i need to install further developer software on the Android become continuing further?

Really appreciate your time

Try this:

1. Go to Settings/Device/Storage
2. Bring up the options (on my device that means clicking on the three dots in the title bar).
3. The only option is "USB computer connection". Click on it.
4. Select "Camera(PTP)" rather than "Media device(MTP)".

Now try the install operation again.

I'm using an Android 4.4 device (it was the same in 4.3), but I hope that it's close enough to yours that you can follow the procedure. After the install you may want to revert the setting to its previous one if you want to view the Android device as a disk.

hi

no joy am afraid - i did go further rummaging on the phone after reading your suggestions and found one further connection type, but not like yours
i don't have the same settings on my Android as you
there are two options i can see to connect
>settings>apps>development>usb debugging (debug mode when usb is connected)
or
>settings>wireless&networks>tethering and portable hotspot>usb tethering

neither of these produces the Disk Image on the Mac, but the first one (usb debug) does send ZTE_USB_Driver to the desktop, but this an .exe. Ejecting the .exe as i read elsewhere is supposed to result in the Android showing up...but no such luck in my case.

it's missing something perhaps to make it connect - but i am out of my depth here
