I just bought a MSI 970A-G43 and a AMD Fx-6300. Obviously its compatible. But, heres my problem.... everytime I try to boot from HDD (I have a old hdd with win7 on it) it will not boot from it. Also, I want to mention my HDD with win7 and my dvd drive are both IDE converted to SATA. I'm not sure if I have them correctly hooked up but, either way my computer isn't seeing them. Does anyone know about converting to SATA? Do I need to just take off the pin that selects master/slave drive? The adaptor came with NO paper work. But, its not recognizing either of them. This is the converter.... http://www.frys.com/product/5473209?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Do I connect the 4 pin power supply and the floppy disk looking one? Or just the Sata and the 4 pin power? Any help would be appreciated.

I seriously advise you to get a new HDD. One thing to remember is that all HDD fail, no matter what. It's just a question of time. Now, considering that they've become so affordable, it's really worth it. It's possible that the adapter doesn't work.
