i5 750
gigabyte ud4p
gtx 560 ti
650 watt corsair
old 250gb hdd, new WD black 1tb hdd, new samsung 840 pro ssd 128gb
4gb ram (i have new 2x8GB sticks to throw in, dont know the best time to do so)

I'm ditching my old 5400rpm 250gb ancient hdd. I want to clean install win 7 home premium on the ssd, and eventually bf4. I would like to add the new hdd and copy/backup the origin game file from my existing hdd so i can eventually move bf4 to the ssd. unfortunately I am only winging it with limited knowledge so any help whatsoever would be great! i guess my main question is once i make the 1tb WD black a storage drive, can i just swap it around seamlessly without formatting on the new "system"? Thanks!

Thank you, that's a well done guide. I suppose if I backup the necessary files to dvd i dont have to worry about reformatting the new hdd. I think I'll quit pussyfooting and go for it.

edit-that doesn't work at all (facepalm) file is way larger than 4.7gb dvd, more like 20gb

Also, consider getting one of these:

USB SATA IDE cable. VERY useful for connecting random drives and moving things around. I have one and use it a lot.
