Hi,
My son built a gaming pc online. Wondering if this all will work well together and if this is enough power, 630w? He forgot the dvd/cd player. Is there a basic you would recommend. Any other recommendations would be much appreciated as this is a first time for us (him).

Thank you in advance!

I'd advise more headroom with your PSU maybe 750W (continuous), and make sure you get one that won't crap out on you.

Straight from experience, only buy from reputable companies when it comes to your PSU. Rosewill is a so-so maker of power units...

I didn't know what he knew about building. So don't come trying to flex some internet muscle. I just gave the basics, that's is all.

When I build, I do so for flexibility later on, not just for the here and now. Sure, he may have an i5-4670K now, but what if he decides to upgrade later on? And it never hurts to have good headroom. furthermore, if you look closely, there are some good units for a bit more than what he's looking at now.

Sorry I missed that. I just edited it to include the memory. That is exactly what we have. That should be good then? Thanks for your answers!

Hey, Abide Rule #1...

DON'T BE A JERK.

You're seeking some kind of fight here, and I think, no, I know you'll lose in the end.

For one,
Never talk over somebody's head when talking about PCs online.

I remember when i first got started with my first build. I listened to a jerk just like you and it was the worst experience I ever had. If you can't relate to others, then you've already lost out of the process. Not everyone is so versed in computing as you feel that you are.

Secondly, don't let your 'badges' and such get to your head. You might feel you know better than most anyone else, and that's fine, you're confident. But it doesn't amount to a hill of beans since you're online.

No, it's not a bad thing, I simply trust Seasonic backed products that much more. Like Corsair and PC Power and Cooling..

Of course. But knowing that they do depend on Seasonic for some of their units, that can't be a bad thing for me.

I had to learn the hard way about PSU's. I had an Apevia when I first began, it died after 3 months of use. Being stuck, I ran out and found a cheap PSU and began researching for the best possible units, That's what brought me to Corsairs TX line. Since there were no PC Power suppliers in my area and I didn't want to wait, I went with a Corsair TX 850 (CWT) from Best Buy, and found out about Seasonic in the meantime.

I had to know just how good my unit was, so I ran it for over a year, continuously, in the basement with dust, heat and humidity, under load and idle. That was 5, going on 6 years ago. It still runs as well as the day I bought it. I've been throughly impressed with it. Corsair values good quality and that's good for me, since I like a lot of their products.

But knowing there's a company with a reputation like Seasonic, I see no faults in buying from them directly, or from Corsair and PC Power as well. Any mixture of those three can't be bad.

Well I guess I will answer my own question after looking further into this. It seems ATNG started off as a Taiwan company then expanded into mainland China. Seasonic on the other hand is is a Taiwan company with a large presence in the USA.

ATNG expanded into communist China, SeaSonic started a subsidiarity in the Us, let me see, support communism or capitalism with my dollar? I hate communism and like capitalism, I think I would buy Seasonic over that ATNG unit. All for political reasons, but now days all things are political.

My vote goes for the XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply, $39.99 that Blackbird presented, great PSU and screw the Communist out of a buck :)
