Hello, I recently purchased a GTX 780 Classified and I am currently OC'ing it and I have run across a few problems. I Use Heaven 4.0 to test my clock frequencies for stability, and I am currently trying to figure out the highest that my GPU will reach. I can get a pretty consistant OC with no artifacts in Heaven 4.0 at 1248 Mhz core at stock voltage. My ASIC is 75.4%. I use EVGA Precision X to OC. To get higher voltages, I use the Official GTX 780 Classified Voltage Tuner. I am on the LN2 Bios, but every time I try to push past 1248 MHz, I can see tiny little artifacts every once in a while. At most, I've seen this card reach 70 degrees Celcius, even while sporting 1.2/1.23V (while doing 1248 Mhz core). Is this card a "lemon" for Classified standards? I've read about how so many users are getting 1300 MHz plus with their 780 Classified's. Are there better techniques that users here use to reach higher Overclocks? any info would be much appreciated, thanks!

You might just have a card that doesn't OC as well as others, silicon lottery and all. Have you touched memory frequencies at all as they are often the cause of artefacting.

Also I doubt there will be much difference between 1248Mhz and 1300Mhz, at least on my 680 there is a negligible difference between 1100mhz and 1200mhz in performance terms, but the extra voltage creates a ton of heat and noise.

Over and over, people tend to overstate their overclocks. Your OC is right in line, if not higher, than that obtained by any legitimate review site. Keep in mind that most reviewers, and individuals getting the highest overclocks are using a much cooler open test bench. Also be aware that there may be some confusion if you read a report of the core manual overclock versus the Boost overclock. The difference can be very significant. Be sure to look at the "Reasons" that Nvidia has built in to the overclocking software to check what's holding back your OC.

Thanks for the reply! I notice that my boost clocks are hitting 1248 MHz in GPU-Z, so as far as I know, There isn't any other boost being applied other than the visible one that I can see. I do have the card in an NZXT phantom. Would a water block help with the artifacts? Again, when I say artifacts, I'm talking the very slightest glitches, not a million-destroying-the-screen kind.

please stop.

there is no way that any legitimate review site has the time to be able to overclock any card to it's full potential with the limited time they have the card under review. the overclocking limits that nvidia has put on keplar cards is old hat by now and esp for the classified isn't as limiting as folks think. people may overstate their overclocks but a screen shot and/or submission to HWbot certainly validate their results.

you know there are other reputable forums . .
