Looking to build a Pc for College and wondered if you guys could help me out a little as i havn't built a system before.

I will use this system for Rendering, video editing and very light gaming.

I live in the Uk and have no problems at getting hardware.

I have decided to go without a graphics card for now untill i have this set up running then i will sell my old pc to fund the graphics card which should be around £300.

I have a budget of around £750 and have done some reasearch and come up with this so far:

CPU i7 3770k - £216
http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Intel+Core+i7-3770K+3.50GHz+%28Ivy+Bridge%29+Socket+LGA1155+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=49758&source=skinflint

MOTHERBOARD - MSI Z77A-G45-THUNDERBOLT - £95
http://www.ebuyer.com/454342-msi-z77a-g45-thunderbolt-socket-1155-intel-i3-i5-i7-hdmi-vga-lan-8-channel-audio-atx-z77a-g45-thunderbolt

RAM - Corsair Vengeance Jet Black 16GB DDR3 2133 MHz - £120

SSD - OCZ Technology 256GB Octane SSD SATA 3 Solid State Drive - £ 110
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/256gb-ocz-octane-25-ssd-sata-iii-6gb-s-indilinx-everest-mlc-flash-read-480mb-s-write-310mb-s-35k-iop

HHD - Toshiba 3TB Internal Hard Drive - £75
http://www.ebuyer.com/481473-toshiba-3tb-internal-hard-drive-dt01aca300

POWER SUPPLY - Corsair 750W CX Builder Series 80PLUS Bronze PSU - £65
http://www.dabs.com/products/corsair-750w-cx-builder-series-80plus-bronze-psu-8758.html?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=AW00&awc=3044_1385850409_b1e33b4bc1b5ecf8aff04781e1710b1b

Which leaves around £70 to get a case and optical drives and what not... but i would like to know if you think these will work well togeather and what you would swap out and possibly a grapgics card (or two) which would go well togeather, Thanks :)

A GTX 760 should do the job.

The PC Part Picker Website is awesome! I spent hours looking at compatibility before and the website does it all for you!... makes me feel kinda stupid in away but happy you've shown it me!

Are there any benefits to the motherboard and SSD you’ve chosen?

I chose the Corsair Vengeance Jet Black 16GB DDR3 2133 MHz RAM would this be worth spending a little extra or would the PNY XLR8 8GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory you chose be good enough?

Also you say a GTX 760 should do the job... i was looking at the Quadro's as they are better for rendering?

But thank you for the response, Its much Appreciated!

Hmm a quadro would be a good choice then but don't those go for around $800 USD?. And yea the ram I chose should function just as well as 2133 MHz, there likely will be a small performance increase but for the price difference I don't think its worth it.

Quadros range from $85-5000 there are multiple models for multiple budgets just like geforces. Lightwave doesn't have any gpu accelerated rendering, and gpu doesn't even matter for zbrush. Max's gpu renderers are better with more performance which is going to be much cheaper with gaming cards. Viewports are a different matter. Lightwave is opengl and works much better on workstation cards. Max is directx and works well on either.

The extra ram speed really won't help and is not worth £40, although I would say to look for 2x8gb just in case for future expansion. If you were unaware, if you want more than 16gb ram, you will need windows 7 pro or higher or 8.

The RAM sounds good but they don't do 8gb sticks, And as k1114 says i may expand in the future as i get into more video editing. Any 2x8gb 1600mhz sticks, come in at around £100-£110 anyways which is only £10 off the 2133mhz.

Ive also looked at the Quadro K2000D and they seem like a good choice at around £320 but have been told theres not a huge differance between that and a GTX 770.

I allready have Windows 7 Ultimate as i brought 2 copys last time as i thought my laptop would need it but it came pre installed with window so i should be ok :)

Thanks again for all your imput!
